
Stevie Wonder quit MoTown in 1970 and released two albums on his own. Berry Gordy was shocked when Stevie Wonder told him this. Berry Gord accepted Stevie Wonder's request to have more freedom and creative control over his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollar MoTown Records contract in 1972. Stevie Wonder was entitled to more royalty as well as greater creative control and rights to his songs. It was a rare chance for artists of the time. Wonder's songs could now discuss controversial topics like war, poverty and drugs. In 1972 the album was came out with Music Of My Mind, the first album released under the new MoTown agreement. Talking Book, Stevie Wonder's 1972 album, is a significant moment in the history of music. It also featured the top hit single, Superstition.
