Cynthia was able to begin her career when she moved to New York and pursuing a career as fashion model. A five-year contract was signed by Wihelmina Models. She then was the face of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's cover design for Essence was not just one of their top-performing covers, but it was Susan Taylor's favorite. Cynthia was set to write her second cover, which set her career in motion. Then she moved to Paris and Milan where she was spotted walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. Cynthia was able to move to New York City after living overseas for almost a full year. The campaigns she worked on featured Maybelline Oil of Olay Macy's. Vogue editorials followed with Glamour magazine, Elle, Essence Vanity Fair and Glamour. Cynthia's professional career was further boosted after being selected over Naomi Campbell for the co-starring part in "Without You I'm Not Anything" with Sandra Bernhadt.
